Tintin and Snowy

Make your dog a pup star

Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, The Littlest Hobo… all dogs with showbusiness in their blood, and now the Lowry is giving your talented pup the chance to join them – as long as they’re little and white!

The venue is holding Bone Idol, a competition to find one dog to perform alongside Matthew Parish and Stephen Finegold in Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin when the show visits Salford at the end of August.

Of course, that means that just like Tintin’s trusty sidekick Snowy, your pooch needs to be, well, snowy in colour.

According to the show’s website, Snowy is "Tintin’s oldest companion… unswervingly loyal and intelligent. However, it must be noted that Snowy is a dog with normal doggy instincts – he can be stubborn and greedy. It is not unknown for him to get distracted by a scrap of food or a juicy bone."

Does that describe your dog? If it does, the details of how to enter are available at Tintintheshow.co.uk. It’s completely free to enter and the winning Snowy will be chosen by a public vote on the site.

The winner will take turn as Snowy at one of the show’s mid-week matinees and get a taste of the full star treatment. The prize includes an appearance at a photo call, a pair of tickets for friends, a signed programme and a certificate from the cast.

So what are you waiting for? A life as a showbiz dog owner awaits!

Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin runs from Weds 29 Aug to Sat 1 Sept at the Lowry. Tickets are £14-£20 (£12.50 for children)
