Onionsin their own words... Onions are Jim, Martin and Chris, three urban dandies from Withington, Manchester. With a penchant for upbeat no-nonsense guitar pop, they formed in the glorious summer of 2005.

What We Think: | "Ramshackle is probably best word for Onions. After all, if the four songs on their latest demo are anything to go by, they are a band who take a simple tune and then run around it like three year olds, excitedly ruining the initial good idea. If they stayed within their range, rather than trying to hit unobtainable notes, and they dropped the stupid harmonies, they might be onto something. Until then, they’re just a hopelessly-lyriced, stupidly-loose band, who are fun, but only palatable to certain tastes. A bit like normal onions, really." Chris Long |
After playing and conquering Cottonopolis for a year, Onions are currently planning on monopolising all the rolling hills of the United Kingdom. The Onions sound is forged from Jim’s catalogue of tamla seven inches, Martin’s wealth of 80’s rock double live cd’s, Chris’ plethora of (legally) downloaded jazz classics mixed with the reasoning that music should be about having a damn fun time and just plain enjoying it! Us Onions like singing songs about the objects and topics ignored by mainstream songwriters, like food allergies, bicycles and building sites. You haven’t danced until you’ve danced to a song about beards! Onions have been together for about a year now and are still requesting fans to join in the fun at their happy sing-a-long dancey sweet giving gigs. | | last updated: 22/02/07 | SEE ALSO
