"Nothing modern or groundbreaking. Dance routines, falling over, 70's pop, multiple outfit changes, wigs and singing down the headphones are more likely. And all in the dance tent, if you please." What are you looking forward to seeing this year? "I think it's really important because it's loads of fun. And fun is nothing to be sniffed at." | Anna on why Manchester needs Dpercussion |
"I haven't seen Superman yet and that looks ace, I love superheroes. At Dpercussion, Bob Stanley, Stuart Braithwaite and Cherrystones on the excellent B Music stage. And The Pipettes look good, how pops bands should be." It's nearly a decade since it began, how important do you think it is to Manchester? "I think it's really important because it's loads of fun. And fun is nothing to be sniffed at. And it's free, or nearly free this year and not many free events can offer such a high calibre of acts which this does. So there." What's your favourite Dpercussion memory?

"I tend to forget quite a lot but Damon in 1998 sticks out. I would go on to describe why it's so memorable, but I might sound like a bit of a wally. His early gigs were quite magical. Oh there you go, I am now a wally." Away from Dp, what are you up to and when are we going to get some new Misty Dixon stuff? "At the moment I am trying to stop buying clothes and shoes and start a pension. I don't want to die from the cold when I am an old lady because I can't afford to put my heating on. I don't know when we'll get some new Misty Dixon stuff. You'd have to ask the talented members of the band that. I just swan about giving it the big I AM." |
