Emerging from Albini-endorsed Tsuji Giri, Saul鈥檚 approach to his music is all-consuming. On this, his second solo EP, he fleshes out his absorbing avant garde folk with layers of electric guitar, vocals and drums. If 鈥楽igns1鈥 has a haunting claustrophobia and 鈥楥uts鈥 aches with frustration, that鈥檚 because Saul feels comfortable building up his songs alone, surrounding by a variety of instruments, in his dusky Manchester flat. As well as three original songs, Saul has included his cover of Jandek鈥檚 鈥業鈥檓 Ready鈥. Inspired by the reclusive Houston-based musician, the track was originally recorded for broadcast on a Pittsburgh radio station hosting a Jandek open mic night. 鈥淚t has an element of finality to it, so I knew it would be the closing track,鈥 says Saul, 鈥淚t鈥檚 surprising to me that it presents itself as the most optimistic sounding thing on the EP!
