Rachel P | My name is Rachel P. I came from Israel to live in England 6 years ago.Ìý I have 6 children 5 girls and 1 boy. I am also a grandmother of 7 grandchildren. |
He was ill for 2 years in his kidneys. He used to go for dialysis 3 times a week. It was very difficult for him and he became depressed, sad and weak. Till then he had been a very happy and busy person. He enjoyed life to the full. He worked hard as a book printer and setter for many years, but he enjoyed his family and his holidays very much too. My father lived in Israel. I lived in the next block until I moved to England with my husband 6 years ago. I missed him very much. I used to phone a few times a day. When I heard his illness was getting worse, my heart told me I had to be there. So I booked a ticket and went to Israel the same day. He was very excited to see me. But he was worried too. He knew it was a serious situation because I was there. He was crying when he saw me. The doctors told him there was no choice. They had to do an operation to take his feet away. He said he didn't want to live like that. But there was no choice. They gave him very strong painkillers and he fell asleep for 2 weeks. They did operate on his feet. I don't know if he knew. I sat there for 2 weeks with my mum and sisters, waiting for good news. We thought about how he could live without his feet. How difficult his life would be like that. Maybe God knew best. Because my dad never woke up again. |
