This new album is Alfie鈥檚 second release on Regal and it is obvious that the new lease of life they have experienced since leaving Twisted Nerve has continued on since their last album, Do You Imagine Things? The band always had a great following in their hometown, but with the new material, they will appeal to a wider audience and finally gain the respect that they deserve. Alfie hit the stage and instantly energised a sold-out crowd inside the legendary venue. Gorton is undoubtedly a great front man and he did his job to perfection.
Interacting with the crowd and striking the right rock 'n' roll poses is a vital part of any lead singer鈥檚 skills, but what really matters is the voice, and Gorton did not disappoint here.

His lyrics were backed up by large doses of soul, and they fitted in perfectly with the trademark gently-driven sounds created by the band. The older songs were greeted with fondness and the new set definitely went down well. Alfie deserve their place in the fraternity of Manchester bands, and with the strength of the songs they showcased tonight, the future looks bright. |
