It’d be such a shame is she doesn’t. She has a naturally amazing soulful voice, writes her own songs, and can quickly hold a fantastic relationship with both her band and audience.Ìý She started her show with the excellent Don’t Look Back, a Mariah-sounding voice but with a bit more attitude. A song about ending relationships, it set the scene for some well written love/ relationship songs, which went down well with the gathering of couples and groups of girls.Ìý Her voice sounds as good, if not better, than those of her recordings. If you have heard her vocal range on her debut album Breathe, you will know that that is no mean feat. Similar to that of Aguilera and Carey (before she joined the ranks of hip-hop stylee) but easier to sing along too, she brings in just the right amount of warbles. Hit single What You’re Made Of went down a treat, with the surrounding couples grasping each other’s hands, while The Game Is Won seemed slightly longer than the album version, with plenty more vocal thrown in. Silvas is clearly perfect pop material – pretty and, with her piano skills, multi-talented. She dedicates smooth pensive Forget Me Not to her old friend with whom she co-wrote the track, her sister is on as part of her band, and on this last night of her tour, she even brings her cousin on stage to say hi.Ìý She is unbelievably nice.Ìý The fact that she doesn’t seem the type to court cheesy press stories or tell all about her love life means that she inevitably won’t get as much press as other pop-stars, and she may not ever get to that level of superstardom of Britney and the like. But I really hope she does because with a voice like that she deserves it. Counting Chris Martin amongst her fans should help and if he gets behind her more, I’m sure it will be that push she needs. |
