Ged Camera (gig: 21/04/05) With a name such as Abdoujaparov, it's unlikely that the members of the group harbour a desire for world domination when the public can't pronounce it.
I doubt if there will be many punters nipping to the nearest record shop and asking for the latest single of 'that band named after the famous Russian cyclist who is now dead'. Then again, Lee Carter's previous incarnation was as part of Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine and they did trouble the charts with The Only Living Boy in New Cross back in '92.

Babyfood is not about the joys of (grand) fatherhood which Carter, with his middle aged paunch and hat covering his lack of hair would seem suited for; it's about being beaten up so badly that babyfood is all that can be consumed by the victim. "There's no blood cos I bleed internally"…
This lyrically cutting approach sits on top of a furiously paced salvo of rock/pop guitar based tunes that are pleasingly easy on the ears, giving enough leeway for his shrewd observations to catch the listener by surprise.
This is all dispensed with a wickedly mischievous grin perpetually adorning his face. "I wanna play in a rock and roll band", Carter proclaims. After this exhibition of growing old disgracefully, so do I.

Les Carter Grandad indeed! Cheeky monkey :)
'there was no sign of bood, was I bleeding internally' is the correct lyric. And my name is LES. Thanks for the review, a nice surprise whilst trawling the net.
