Everyone accepts that the bombings are horrific and that the perpetrators are thugs and bullies. Whilst we are a democracy does anyone feel as I do that by publishing certain facts like fall in tube passengers, not enough police to deal with other crimes etc is playing into their hands? London attacks are just another example of the World鈥檚 current awful condition. Unfortunately, people have lost their minds. I鈥檝e tried to figure out an explanation for someone willing to kill some others he/she might have never seen before. I cannot really understand this mentality. In the name of Islam, some extremist Moslems grant themselves the right to kill others. Although I鈥檓 not a very religiously-educated Moslem, but I know that this is not accepted by all means; it鈥檚 quite obvious after all. Those extremists are doing nothing but deteriorating the image of Islam. I鈥檓 afraid they have accomplished their task successfully. Out of curiosity, I would like to question the main motive for such reckless acts. What do they get out of killing innocent civilians whose only fault was being British in our instance? I cannot really believe that some people have become that extremist and racist. Regardless of whatever they have in mind, this is extremely illogical and doesn鈥檛 make any sense at all. Do they see their deeds as some sort of taking revenge for the Moslems who are being killed everyday in some other parts of the world? Even if it鈥檚 so; but why kill innocents? If it goes like that, the world will be no more very soon then, I assure you. Hatred in those criminals鈥� hearts is too black. Violence feeds violence as it were. Let me view what鈥檚 going on from a rather primitive viewpoint. I shall give a simple example to simplify things even more. Let鈥檚 have A & B as two brothers and C & D as two other brothers. Now C kills A and runs away with his deed as C is too evil and influentially powerful as well. Well, is this a motive or an impulse for B to kill D then? Is it like tit for tat? This is exactly what鈥檚 going on nowadays. But people, we should put an end to this massacre. It鈥檚 high time now we forget about our little insignificant differences. Each one of us has the full right to believe in whatever makes sense to him/her. However, it鈥檚 not anyone鈥檚 right to start killing and terrifying others only because they are different. Here comes Edward Saeed鈥檚 notion of 鈥淭he Other鈥�. Maybe it鈥檚 man鈥檚 nature to be extra cautious of something new that he hasn鈥檛 experienced dealing with before. Well, that鈥檚 quite understood. We have to be careful about new things that pop into our lives all of a sudden. But, we shouldn鈥檛 take a negative attitude from the very beginning. We shouldn鈥檛 build or create a stereotype because we have been told or warned about something or because we have had an unpleasant experience with a member of the group under study. My point is that we shouldn鈥檛 rush into prejudgments. Edward Saeed鈥檚 idea of 鈥淭he Other鈥� sounds so appealing to me simply because it makes a lot of sense especially nowadays where people have stuck to their pre-conceived ideas and have become unwilling to give them another shot as it were. The Other is different, thus the Other is bad! But why is the Other bad? Is it because we view ourselves as good? Well, this could be a good explanation as to why we tend to have those feelings of hatred towards the Other. I would advocate the fact that this is something that gets fed by our surrounding rather than what others may claim - that it comes by birth. I don鈥檛 think it comes by birth because I believe that man can accommodate and cope with any other creature living with him from the very beginning. Thus, it鈥檚 not part of our collective consciousness as it were. For instance, let a baby live with a pet at home, after a while, you鈥檒l realize that the baby and the pet have developed a wonderful relation based on mutual love and care, although the pet is something extremely different, it鈥檚 a different species in the first place! Thus, from our 鈥渕ature鈥� viewpoint, we can consider the pet as an 鈥淥ther鈥�. Well, if hatred and fear of the 鈥淥ther鈥� don not come by birth, how do they come into being then? Who feeds them and lets them grow to the extent that makes us create stereotypes? I鈥檓 afraid it鈥檚 the surrounding! It鈥檚 the upbringing that鈥檚 based on sick old notions. Frankly speaking,

I would just like to say that even though I do not live in London I still feel very connected because I have a great love for this place. I was having a sleepover with my friend and we just about to fall asleep when I was fliping through channels and I found the coverage on CNN. We watched the news for about 2 more hours and didn't go to sleep till about 3 am. Im still in shock and I check the news daily for new information on this prediciment.

I have great respect for the British people and there attitude of racial equality. However stereo typing a whole ethnic group because of a few with criminal intention is very racial. This is discrimination and police have to be very prudent in making sure that there is sufficient evidence to support an arrest. Otherwise Londoners of all backgrounds should be aware that they might be next. The last thing we need to see is the unjust arrestment of innocent civilians; similar to the incident with the Brazilian citizen, which lead to the death of a Brazilian man. I am disgusted by the terrorist attacks againt England, Spain, and United States, however we should look around the world and see for ourselves the problem we are causing to other people/countries. I spend the 7th on the internet waiting for reports from my London internet friends and listening to the radio that reported almost non stop. It is dreadful that a few people can bring sorrow over so many people - direclty involved like wounded, dead, relatives and friends, those almost hit (a friend of mine was 2 minutes away from the first subway blast), those worrying about loved ones or friends, and those just reading about the harrowing events. The only way forward is to keep going and unspectacular , patient police work. I know you will keep a stiff upper lip! I am looking forward to be over in autumn.

Israel is not the only place where this is a normal everyday occurance. In Iraq 3-4 bombings a day is the average. In Palestine it's not suicide bombers that you fear but the state-legitimised Israeli soldiers who can shoot you at will. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I agree that nothing can validate these acts - they are absolutely despicable. But it is only when we start to give equal value to all life, western or eastern, muslim or jew, white or black, and treat all killing of innocent civilians, whether it be by militants or a nation state with equal condemnation, that we can start to move forward.

I hope and pray that there are no acts of violence against Muslims. Muslim people are a peace loving people. The individuals who misinterpret the Holy Quran, do it for their own misguided political views. Nothing can validate these acts, but at the same time you have to be thankful that we live in a place where this is not an every day occurance. In Isreal people live with this fear on a daily basis. Its normal. But I find it hard to understand how killing can be normal. At the other point I see this as a revenge of what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan while there are 1000's of innocent being killed and raped and there is no one to sympathise and all america can say is sorry. It brought back all those horrible feelings from 9/11, and my respect for the British increased when I saw the determination and resolve on their faces. The 'easy road' would be to blame an entire religious group or extremists, so bringing heavier suspicion over minority groups, as we spin further into the terrorists鈥� web of deceit. Should someone claim that their ideology (be it religious or otherwise) is to commit these crimes, then it is a lost human being with a deluded state of mind who has acted in this evil manner. The questions have already begun over whether this was retaliation against Western forces in Middle East. We can certainly agree that our foreign policies have not helped in stabilising or reducing the risk of greater attacks. The bigger picture will really need to be digested if we are truly looking for real answers to the turbulent world we live in today. To be honest, I feel there is no reason to remind people how peaceful Islam and its doctrines are, as I think the majority are well aware of the great historical contribution that it has made to Western civilisation. Only the bigots and extremists within our society will seek to try to capitalise from these sad events. They are known to us all. We don鈥歵 know who was behind this heinous act, and so we await the results of the investigation. I was quite disappointed with Tony Blair鈥歴 comments linking the whole atrocity to Muslims. As a Prime Minister, I expected a more balanced statement from him; the Police investigators are saying themselves that they don鈥歵 know who did this. It is these kinds of irresponsible comments that only add to the fuel of ignorant people and bigots to take the law into their own hands. I personally found the comments of Ken Livingstone (London Mayor) and Brian Paddick (DAC) balanced, inspiring and hopeful. Distinguishing Islam from terrorism as two separate entities that are unrelated. May God bless them both for their well-measured thoughts and correct understanding of my religion. We must be clear that a wrong action is a wrong action, be it committed by a person of faith or of no faith, whether it is the 鈥淲est鈥� or an 鈥渋nsurgent group鈥�. I arrived at Euston at 8.20pm this morning. Trying to decide which service to use to get to Holborn, I went in search of a bus, they were there but not moving owing to congestion of traffic (which I understood) went in search of a tube, large crowd outside tube entrance, then I thought I would get a taxi, very long queue. I then rang the office, sat and had a coffee until the crows had dispersed. I then took the northern line to Tottenham court road and got off of the underground(did not take the central line as my asthma was starting to kick off) I then decided to wait for a bus, traffic grid locked......our driver on the number 8 said that the traffic lights were out. Nothing we could do but wait. At least I could go to work..... My point is: as the police etc are trying their best to sort out the effects from last Thursday, wouldn't it have been a good idea to restrict personal cars etc from the hot spots to allow public transport to get people to work. Our driver was very good and kept us informed. BUT, according to the media all public transport was back to normal...... Not quite but I am sure we will get there. (I am walking back to Euston tonight - asthma and all)

i am in year 8 and we were going to the tower of london on thursday 7th july for a school trip. When we reached to tower, we were told that we had to go back to the coach and go back to school. What I want to say from the bottom of my breaking heart, is it's not okay for millions of people in our world. It's not okay for the Palestinians. It's not okay for the people in Iraq. What I would love to hear from one Londoner, and I know how many of you protested against the war in Iraq -- I would love to hear one of you have the courage to decry these attacks in your beautiful city at the same time you suggest that it isn't possible to go on -- business as usual -- when the global economic empire -- those G8 guys included -- continue to assault the rest of the world with unfathomable cultural violence. Where is the courage to accept the awful truth? We Westerners are directly responsible for these acts of terrorism. Until and unless we are willing to change our ways and our acceptance of the unbridled greed of the Haliburtons of this world, the average working man and woman will not and should not be safe because we are the only ones who have the power to make the madness stop. That's the message of these attacks. Wake up and make the madness stop.Now, I do not condone violence in any form, but we can't afford to go on as usual. To do the same thing again and again while expecting a different result is one definition of insanity. We all know that the war in Iraq was launched on lies, misinformation and maniuplated information. My heart is with every families of those who lost their lives and those who have been irreparably injured, those who helped the dying and wounded and those who must do the awful grueling work of cleaning up the "mess". Wake up, Londoners. It's time to hit the streets again demanding an end to all the madness.

I was in the carriage next to the one that blew up on at Kings Cross. I am physically ok but the tears wont stop, I still feel the smoke choking me. It seemed so long before anyone came to rescue us, but in the carraige everyone seemed calm but the fear on everyones face was evident. The smoke was so thick but the burning smell, blood and injuries was worse. Everymorning I get into the first carriage to Kensington from Wood Green, this morning I jumped into the first available one. I survived probably because I was seated and I quickly removed my jacket to cover my nose and mouth with it. I'm lucky to be alive to see my son again.

I went to work on the 259 to Tottenham, like evry day. At Finsbury Park I saw lots of people being evacuated from the Station. Thought there had been a power failure. Same at Seven Sisters. Only when I got to the office I understood what had happened. London has been my home for 10 years and this is the saddest I have felt - my heart is with the victims families. People are coping admirably and with great dignity. I am proud of being a Londoner, (even though not by birth)

Later she sent sms telling it was a terrorist attack. This is touching me more deeply than WTC as it all happened so much closer. Now we all know we're not safe here in Europe. I lived in London for 3 years, and I feel deeply touched by what happened. I always have felt that sooner or later this would happen. I took a flight from NY on the 9/9/2001, few days before the attack, and luckly I wasnt in London when the attacks happened, because my School (St.Giles College) was in Russel Sq. Its a bit ironic but we all knew it was about to happen anyway, we just didnt know when. I was at Warren Street tube when we were told that the tube won't be stopping at Euston or Kings Cross. So I got off the tube to change lines in Warren street and (when the *WHOLE* London underground was shut down) we were told that due to an emergency we were ask to leave the station. I am angry with London underground announcements. Since then what we did is catch busses. We were lucky we did not have bombs in the buses. We were lucky. But why why why London underground did not tell us to leave the station due to the whole of London underground being closed down due to terrorist attack. If I have heard this I would not have jumped in to a bus. I would have avoided any public transport. London underground announcements are rubbish. Also I wanted to know how many policements were in duty in London yesterday. Did this make us more vulnerable?

I saw the bus incident and the roof of the bus was thrown 3 metres into the air in the explosion. It sounded like a huge thud. People were caterpaulted out, and the on-lookers just stood in stunned silence before rushing to help. It was so intensely horrendous to be sitting in school, being told that there has been an explosion in London - 24 hours after I was there. It was so scary to hear the death toll rise dramatically from 2 people in the beginning to more than 30 dead and over 700 injured.
