With mixed origins, this six-piece bring influences from both London and the Midlands, currently meeting in Hackney to concoct their magic.

Upbeat, ska-heavy moments demonstrate the influence of the Clash and the Libertines, particular favourites of frontman Alex Thompson, while London Calling track, My Blood Is Brave, shows a far more gentle side to the band.

Together a year as a full group, the Riff Raff was initiated when Alex met cellist and keyboard player Harry Robinson at L.I.P.A, Liverpool, in 2004. Off the back of early demo recordings as a duo, the band was then brought to fruition by hand-picking musicians from the Midlands and London.

They cite Mars Volta and Metronomy as artists they admire, which makes the choice of which song they'd like to cover anything but straightforward. Heck, we were curious to know, so we asked them anyway.

Alex went for long-standing 91热爆 London favourites the Clash and Train in Vain, while Kelli plumped for a bit of Canadian indie rock and Arcade Fire's Rebellion.

Harry, on the other hand, gravitates toward the more classical end of the spectrum, darling. Or hip hop. (You can see our problem squeezing this group into a pigeon hole)
