Together three years, Hatchem Social are Jerome Watson, Dave Finberg, Toby Kidd and Finn Kidd; yes that one from The Klaxons.

Based in East London and Cricklewood, the band have taken on an oily East London style with, nevertheless, undeniable and optimistic pop overtones akin to Felt's Lawrence Hayward.

Not a new band on the overseas circuit, Hatchem Social have already seen their work released in Japan, the US and Canada, while Christmas 2008 saw the UK release of their download only covers E.P. A Clearing In The Woods.

Including a firm favourite with the band, Nirvana's Love Buzz, the collection is still available via Hatcham Social's MySpace. And what's more, it's free.

One listen to the band reveals that influences from Hitchcock to hormones has sculpted them into songwriters of their own making. That said, a little good influence along the way hasn't gone amiss, having worked with Tim Burgess on recording their album.

Currently touring with the Walkmen, Hatcham Social are about to release the single selected for our London Calling feature, Murder In The Dark. Signed to independent label, Fierce Panda Records, the single will be available from February 20, 2009.
