The funeral service of murdered Hackney school boy Shaquille Smith took place in front of over a thousand mourners. Men women and hundreds of children packed the St Andrew's at Hackney church in Lower Clapton Road to pay respect to the popular youngster. Community activist, Sheldon Thomas was one of several people who have been working to prevent knife and gun violence to have attend the funeral.听 Shaquille Smith He said: "I'd like to echo something that was said in church today. It would seem that we would rather live with criminals, people who are very dangerous rather than turn somebody in. "I would say to young people and adults, stand up and take control of your community and say no I'm not going to succumb to join your gangs and your intimidating ways. "These people are a minority, there are more people who are decent who are doing well at school". StabbedThe 14 year old was stabbed in the stomach as he sat on a bench near his home during the school summer holidays. Resting placeAfter the service the cortege than made it's way to the burial at the City of London cemetery in Manor Park.
