On a debate on Corporal Punishment in Schools he said: "Cane our students?听 We don't even shout at them!听 We treat all our students with respect and want them to get the most out of their education."听

"We care for our students: 17 members of staff ran up Ben Nevis to raise money to help pay for some of our students to go on our annual ski trip".

41 year old John, has held five headships prior to his appointment at Oasis Academy, the former Coulsdon High School which has been extremely controversial.听 Opened at the beginning of the summer term, it's being seen as the benchmark for a number of schools in the borough.听- If the proposals to close some of the borough's schools get the go ahead next month, the local authority plans to open two more Academies.

The formation of a Student Leadership Team is being sighted by John as being the key factor in transforming behaviour in the classroom.

"Our Student Leaders are highly respected members of our Academy Community and are very much part of the driving force in improving behaviour", said John
