Hundreds of performers will descend on the park with a spectacular outdoor event to celebrate the launch of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.听

The event is a cross-borough project bringing performers from across South London.听 It's expected to bring together youth and community groups across the region to explore their hopes and aspirations for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Participants from Bromley, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, and Wandsworth will join those from Croydon in a variety of activities including dance, music and textile-making workshops.

Also in the park will be the Get Set London Roadshow - an interactive set-up where the general public can find out how to get involved in the London 2012 Games.

Steve Hollands, said: 鈥淲ith the fantastic success of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes in Beijing and the handover of the Olympic Games to London these are extremely exciting times for culture and sport, and a great opportunity to inspire our Croydon residents to get involved.鈥澨�
