A mass sporting and cultural festival called the Cultural Olympiad, will be taking place in the last weekend of September.

The festival will launch with a 5 kilometre fun run from Raphael Park, to celebrate London's status as host-city.听 Runners will set off at 10 am, and it's open to anyone of any ability.

The fun run will end up at the festival in Romford Market Place, where there'll be a showcase featuring some of the borough's best talent.听 Entertainment on show will include music, dance and art, and 2012 themed crafts workshops. There'll also be a Big Dance celebration with hundreds of local school children.

Although most of the activities will be centred on the Market Place, there will be events taking place across the town centre.

The festival takes place on Sunday 28th September from midday until 5.30pm.
