For many, the Beijing Olympics has been seen as a success.听It was hoped by officials in China that听holding the games could show the world a new and emerging China. For London-based artist Cheng Yu the Olympics has helped to promote interest in classical Chinese music. Since the beginning of this year the demand for her group, the Silk String Quartet, has been profound. At the age of seven, and during the Cultural Revolution, Cheng Yu learnt from her听 father to play the pipa.听 At that time her father's music was discouraged, being seen as anti the revolution. Many years on and Cheng Yu and her group are playing to audiences across the UK and collaborating with acts such as Damon Albarn and writing music for the blockbuster film The Mummy 3.
