Nearly 2000 participants from across the UK and 23 countries around the world have come together to make friends and have fun.
Campdowne is the first UK international Scout and Guide Camp of the new centenary of Scouting.听 All London and Kent Scouts and Guides have this opportunity to take part in their own locally managed international camp.听 The young people and their leaders are camping at Downe Scout Activity Centre, a beautiful woodland site, where they've been making new friends and living together in peace and harmony.  During the course of the 10 day event, the Scouts and Guides have had the opportunity to take part in over 50 different fun and adventurous activities.听 One of the highlights of Campdowne will be the visit of adventurer, Ray Mears who will be leading a survival masterclass as well as receiving a special Scout honour. Campdowne 2008 officially began with a spectacular opening ceremony and party. It was the first time that all the participants had been together and they were treated to performances from 20 acts including Scouts, Guides, professional dancers and even some of the summer crew. The event was rounded of by a party which gave everyone a chance to get to know one another.
