The Queen鈥檚 Gardens were opened by her Majesty in 1983.听 Since then the gardens, which were also to mark the centenary of the town鈥檚 Charter of Incorporation, has become a much-loved refuge in the heart of a busy city centre.听
To mark the 25th anniversary this Friday (18 July), the grounds will come alive with music and dancing. 鈥淭his promises to be a great day with lots of entertainment for all. The Queen鈥檚 Gardens are one of the town centre鈥檚 assets and will continue to develop just as they have over the past quarter-century.听 ....听 They will continue to be valued and enjoyed by the people of Croydon for years to come.鈥 Says Cllr Steve Hollands Visitors on the day will be entertained with a varied stream of activities from Bollywood dancing to a gospel choir, the event which will also showcase local talent is absolutely free. As well as a variety of food stalls from Croydon鈥檚 diverse community, there will be craft workshops and a wedding display.
