Business who employ touts can face potential fines of up to 拢20,000 or up to six months in prison, or both. More than 32 people from 16 different restaurants have been served with fines under a local bylaw against touting outside curry houses on Brick Lane, which was introduced in 2006. Now, a persistent tout on the street, which is known as London's 'curry capital', has got the first ASBO under the ban. Motin Miah from Ilford pleaded guilty to touting for Chillies restaurant, on 76 Brick Lane, five times between March and May this year. He was fined 拢200 for touting and 拢65 in other costs. The ASBO means he is not allowed to go within 200 metres of the restaurant until June 2010. Because he was found to be repeatedly drunk in the area, the ASBO also bans him from carrying alcohol in the streets. Lead Member for Cleaner, Safer, Greener, Councillor Abdal Ullah, said: "This is part of our ongoing fight against touting in Brick Lane. We regularly take touts to court for breaking the bylaw. "Anti-social behaviour orders are just another way we can tackle touting.
