Taking place between the 23rd June and the 20th July, the dance festival will include over 20 different events all around the borough. It'll take place around the same time as London's Big Dance, which runs from the 5th- 8th of July. Like the Big Dance, Dagenham's dance fest aims to encourage residents to take better care of their health, and show that dancing can provide a fun, creative way to get fit. Councillor Bob Little, who deals with leisure and arts in the borough said: 鈥淲e are hoping that our dance festival will provide a great deal of fun for people of all ages and encourage them to take up the activity as a source of enjoyment and as a way of keeping fit and active.鈥 Dancers take part in London's Big Dance On the packed programme are local venues staging dance shows which take place at the Broadway Theatre throughout the month. The UK School鈥檚 Break-dance Championships 2008 take place at Jo Richardson School on 12 July and there鈥檚 a community evening at Castle Green on 17 July. The 鈥淩aw Talent鈥 final takes place on 19th of July at the Dagenham Town Show, highlighting creative and energetic performers. There will also be a free tea dance for the over 50s.
