Naomi Aptowitzer, the director of the social enterprise company, ZiPee Bikes, said: "It is important to reach out to marginalised groups such as teenagers, who often get a excluded from the 'green' agenda and are represented as behaving in an anti-social manner. Students at Bow School "The project was young-people led, and they completed the fundraising forms, conducted research on the benefits of alternative 'green' methods of transport." As part of the project, all the young people were awarded a certificate, and chose a teacher to allocate the electric bike to, as part of the school's 'ride to work' scheme. One student commented: "It was really good to take part in the project it open up our eyes to know more about the dangers of CO2, greenhouse gases and global warming. The best part we liked about the project was riding on the electric bikes also we get to choose which teacher gets to ride the ZiPee bike at the end of the project." Head Teacher of Bow School, Beverly Dobson, added: "We discourage teachers to travel in their cars and encourage them to travel to school by car, share or even a ZiPee." angela.saini@bbc.co.uklast updated: 13/02/2008 at 13:37 You are in: London > London Local > Tower Hamlets > Spare Time > Zipping around the green way
