Central London is closing to traffic for one day in September so cyclists can enjoy the sights on car-free roads.

But the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, wants more of us to ditch four wheels and stick to two when it comes to going about our daily business.

The aim is to make the city cleaner, greener and less congested.

But for those of us who live outside Zone 1, how realistic is it for the Mayor to expect us to cycle our normal commute to the West End of the City?
