Eyaz is a British born Pakistani who regularly plays shoot volley at the Asian volleyball club in East Ham.听 听

The club was set up by his uncle Mohammed Younas and has been running for 10 years.听 It was set up to encourage young people to be active and get involved in sports instead of hanging around the streets.

The club has grown and developed and attracts people who have migrated from Pakistan. Some see the net, recognise the sport and join in.听 For those coming from Pakistan and who are new to the UK it's a great way to settle into life thousands of miles from home.

For Eyaz the sport is a great way of connecting with friends , family and others from the Pakistani Diaspora.

It's an important part of his identity.听 Although Eyaz was born in the UK he feels a strong link to Pakistan through his language religion and culture.听 This is reinforced by the people that come from Pakistan and play at the club.
