Along with ten of our lucky listeners Vanessa Feltz agreed to have the history of her house investigated.听 Befitting Vanessa herself the house and land had a fascinating pedigree.听 Below is a short summary and an abridged timeline of the house's previous owners.

Vanessa's House - A Short History

The history of Vanessa's house in St John's Wood is intrinsically linked to that that of the two adjoining houses, because at one time they were all one property although occupied by various people at the same time.

The first registered house on Vanessa's street dates from around 1832 although most of the present houses were built in the early part of the 20th Century.

Famous residents of the site where Vanessa's house is built were the sculptor John Adams-Acton who lived in the original building on the site.听 John Betjeman refers to the house in his Metro-land documentary made for the 91热爆 in 1973.

The land where Vanessa's house now stands was occupied by several out buildings, including a coach house and stables, from at least 1853. The house did not exist in its present form until sometime between 1915 and the 1930's.

One of the more famous owners of Vanessa's house was the Advertising giant Charles Saatchi.
