Tigers 2009: A Look Back

Tigers have had an impressive season this year. Lots of drama, action, tears and turbulation. It's been a thrilling season and you can listen to some of the highlights from 91热爆 Leicester...

After an impressive last season, Leicester Tigers have been on form for 2009.

They were named Premiership Champions, when they took on London Irish at Twickenham on 16 May 2009.

Unfortunately, the Tigers fell short of a few points on Saturday 23 May 2009 when they took on Leinster in Edinburgh in the Heineken Cup Final.

The Tigers previously won the trophy in 2001 and 2002.

Leicester were bidding for an unprecedented third League and European Cup double, but despite a hugely committed display, they just lacked the cutting edge to join French aristocrats Toulouse as the only club with a hat-trick of Heineken Cup wins.

91热爆 Leicester's Martin Ballard takes an in-depth look at the season...

The season began with a mixed spell. Controversies and changes worried the fans.

The first shock for the team was the departure of Heynekin Meyer and acting head coach Richard Cockerill taking over.

Then came the uneventful semi-final against Cardiff - another shock.

But then things things started to change and the club began reviving it's trophy-winning form.

The first penalty shoot out in professional Rugby saw Tigers through to the final, to the delights of thousands of fans across the world.

Winning the league was a highlight at Twickenham, and the players clearly had the double in their sights.

The English champions played an impressive game, during their Heineken Cup Final in Scotland.

But Leinster pinned the Tigers back in their half with some ferocious defence and despite a desperate late attack from Leicester, Leinster held out to claim their maiden Heineken Cup.
