Introducing... Autohype

Autohype are an electro-indie band from Leicester who are hoping to break into the big time in the next couple of years.

"We want to be in a band where people at gigs get into it and jump about, dance about a bit."

Ed, Autohype

The five-piece Leicester group Autohype have existed in their present line up since October 2008.

Before this they had two different members - and before this they were Squid Ate Lucy, "which is a really silly name".

The band have just signed a single deal with Size Records which they feel is a really positive step in the right direction:

"I think it takes a lot of hard work and effort and there's a list of things really that you have a achieve before you can get a big record deal I suppose."

Listen: Interview with Autohype plus acoustic track

91热爆 Leicester's Chris Baxter spoke to Autohype about their past, present and future. Listen to the interview, plus hear their acoustic performance of 'Catch Me'...

Writing songs is generally a joint process that allows each band member to give their own input.

Their influences range quite widely with each musician coming from differing musical backgrounds, as Martin commented:

"I know Seb used to do a lot of DJing, and Ed's got a lot of dance music influences, and I grew up with my parents making me listen to all sorts of stuff that I won't go into."

The dream

Drummer Ed feels that their quick paced beats could be the key to their success and positive audience reactions:

"We don't want to be in a band that at gigs people just stand there looking a bit bored. We want to be in a band where people at gigs get into it and jump about, dance about a bit.

"Hopefully - that's the dream."

The band are now completely fixed on working their way up to the big time record deal they hope has their name on it.

For now this means progressing their style over the next couple of years and aiming to get some big festival slots in the summer.
