The Bigger PictureIf you've driven through Loughborough recently you can't fail to have noticed the huge structure that has appeared on the grounds of Emmanuel Church. 91热爆 Leicester's Joanne Fagon went to investigate. How do you do justice to the Easter story - arguably the most epic tale known to man? By painting a huge picture, of course! At least, that's how worshippers in Loughborough are hoping to tell the Easter story all this week.听 Listen: Interview with Reverend David Newman91热爆 Leicester's Joanne Fagon visited Emmanuel Church to ask Reverend David Newman what it was all about...
Help playing audio/video The church grounds on Forest Road have been taken over by a massive three-sided frame about the height of a double-decker bus and the width of at least three. The structure is essentially a giant easel for what will be a gigantic painting depicting the Easter story. Artist Terry Woods has designed the image, but has wisely chosen to seek a little help with its painting. Record Breakers?Several thousand people have been involved in colouring in around 500 panels with emulsion paint, including schools and community groups. Throughout the week the panels will slowly be joined together like a jigsaw with the last piece completing the picture on Easter Monday. The organisers are hoping to break a world record for Loughborough with the project. David commented: "We're going for largest ever painting by numbers pictures - that's what we believe when the whole thing is completed we'll break." Of course this is presuming it doesn't get washed or blown away in the lovely weather Leicestershire is currently experiencing, but David has faith it will all be okay: "I don't think that it's going anywhere - it's well weighted down!" last updated: 20/03/2008 at 10:19 You are in: Leicester > Faith > Features > The Bigger Picture
