It seems to be earlier and earlier every year that an excited anticipation of Leicester's biggest festival grips us here at 91Èȱ¬ Leicester. This year Summer Sundae will be running from Friday 10 August to Sunday 12 August, providing three packed days of awesome tunes and happy vibes in De Montfort Hall and gardens. The Lowdown For those not in the know, the annual festival hosts an eclectic mix of exciting musicians over five stages - The Outdoor Stage, The Indoor Stage, The Musicians Stage and The Rising Stage, eFestivals Cabaret Tent, which showcases the best up and coming regional acts.
| 2006: James Morrison |
As well as all this musical splendour, the eFestivals Cabaret Tent will be staging a selection of la crème de la crème of national and local comedic talent. There is a choice of two campsites in very close walking distance of the stages, but also in relatively close proximity to the city centre (so you can always taste some of Leicester's finest cuisine if you don't fancy beans every night!) The friendly festival is increasingly growing in popularity with huge fans in both the dedicated campers and the critics, having won several awards in the last few years. For the many of those who won't be lucky enough to get one of the gold-dust-like Glastonbury tickets this year, Summer Sundae can provide a relaxing alternative – generally offering a little less mud and minus a half hour trip just to get between stages/campsites/toilets. The Music The event has become unanimous with seeking out the-next-big-thing – with last years line up including Guillemots, James Morrison, Larrikin Love and Jamie T. There are some very healthy rumours flying about on various internet messageboards about who we'll be seeing this year, but here's what the official line-up announcements have revealed so far...
