Facts | Under the Thumb was made working in collaboration with film production company Hi8us North and Gipsil (Gipton Supported Independent Living). |
The production was created and filmed over a four week period with industry professionals. Katie Johnson, Kellie McCartan and Danielle Rippin were the actors for the film, Shaun O'Connor took to the role of camera operator and Katie Walker was assistant director.听 Michelle Gittins, assistant producer, says: "The whole project was based on team work. We participated in a range of drama and storyboarding workshops before trying out various roles from director right through to producer, camera operator and sound technician." Charlie Hardwick is a professional actress for over 20 years and now plays the role of Val Lambert in Emmerdale. A constant supporter of young women's projects, Charlie joined the cast and crew to share some of her experience with them. She said: "It was brilliant to work with such enthusiastic, valiant young individuals. They approached an extremely sensitive subject matter with a resolve to make an end product that would encourage people to think about domestic violence." A free screening of Under the Thumb will take place in the Epiphany Church, Gipton at 11.30am on Wednesday 19 October 2005. |
