Sunstroke

Some years ago I and my semi Spanish speaking wife were holidaying in Spain with our Spanish hosts from Cartagena. On a beautifully hot and bright sunny day they took us to their holiday retreat at a little village called La Azohia where my wife and female host Cari were bathing in the sea whilst I looked on from the beach. Suddenly I noticed that there was a bit of a commotion going on and I went in to the water to see what the problem was. Cari explained that my wife had insulted her and I asked my wife what had happened. It transpired that Cari had made some comment about the brightness of the sun making her squint, and my wife had helpfully taken off her sunglasses, thrusting them in the direction of Cari with the words "Put on!", "Put on!" I could barely talk for laughing when I told Cari what my wife meant, and I explained to my wife that the Spanish word putona was an insult meaning 'slut'.
