Big bum!

I went to Germany when I was 17 to work as a nanny. Despite being nervous about speaking incorrectly, I wanted to try out my German, that being the reason I went there in the first place. Normally it worked out well. However, one evening I wanted to point out to my employer that the ash on her cigarette was about to fall off. Not knowing the right words, I figured I would say the ash was too big - however, I mispronounced the word Asche, ash, and what I actually said was Arsch, bottom. So I happily told her that her bottom is too big. She stared at me in disbelief as I flushed crimson and pointed desperately at the cigarette end to try to make her understand what I had really meant!

Loool! Sounds quite funny to me! I am from Germany and went on an exchange in October 2004. One of the funny things I can think of is when my exchange partner asked me if I would stand up 'dead' every morning, mixing up the German word for 'early' with the French one ³Ùô³Ù (in German tot means 'dead'). It really was quite funny.
