Like a bird bath, only smaller
My boyfriend is French, but speaks American English, so I would usually use French for the easy part of the conversation and then switch to English when I encountered some difficult vocabulary or stopped pronouncing things correctly. One day I was determined to speak only in French, and while we were in the car I was telling a story which for some reason had the word 'mouthwash' in it. Immediately after I said the word I realized my mistake and stopped talking. He burst out laughing the second I looked over at him. What I had said was bain de mouche (literally bath of fly/fly bath, which doesn't really exist) instead of bain de bouche (mouthwash). That was over a year ago, and he won't let me forget it until this day.
