Only came for four days

I came to Norway in June 2001 as a cheap stepping stone to Sweden and Finland. I planned to spend four days here and then travel by train to Gothenburg. But then I met a girl here and after a few months of 'I'll leave in a few days ...', I decided to take a year off university and get a job here. Despite the language barrier I managed to get two bar jobs during the summer and was then lucky enough to get an assistant teaching position. Working in bars was great for learning the language especially numbers and basic greetings. On the whole the customers were really cool about being served by an Englishman.
