Exit State

This 4-piece band from Burnley just love their rock! Find out more about them and listen now!

More about Exit State...

Where are you from?

Burnley, Haslingden & Preston

Who plays what?

Roy Bright - Vocals/Guitars, Adam Stephenson – Guitars, Phil Ireland – Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals, Crazy Texas Peat – Drums/Backing Vocals

Got any bad habits?

Roy has an unhealthy obsession with ridiculously hot and spicy food and staying out far past our bed times after a show.

What's the band's history so far?

The band was formed in March 2005 following the demise of well known Burnley outfit Deponeye. Deponeye had just secured two tracks on to one of 2004's biggest selling computer games, the driving destruction game entitled Flatout and received a record deal offer from Revolver Records (famed for discovering The Stone Roses) when the band split.

Roy vowed to continue and started the search for new members who shared an love of music.Ìý With a few line up changes the band finally settled on a storming line-up late July 2007.Ìý We managed to quickly and fantastically poach Chris Peat of Ex-Freespirits fame not 12hrs after the bands unfortunate demise.

Having had a great run (semi-finals) in The Venue’s Battle of the Bands in Preston, we decided to enter the recording studios very quickly and produced our three track demo ‘Anybody Out There?’. The EP was recorded at Calder Recording Studios just outside Hebden Bridge and was Engineered and Produced by Steve Fenton.Ìý Steve had worked with artists such as the Happy Mondays, T-Rex, Clive Russel, John Helliwell, Mike Walker, Mark Hart, Sunny D Levine, Operator Six & Mabel Blue.

To say that the guys were happy with Steve’s producing skills would be an understatement.Ìý The EP was finalised early Jan 08 and has already, in one month produced results including licensing with O’Neill Europe (one of the worlds leading extreme sports clothing and events team), Crucial Music (an industry leader in film, TV and Game placement for music with recent successes listed as Ugly Betty, Cloverfield, Heroes, One Tree Hill, Flash Gordon, C.S.I, Dexter, F4 Silver Surfer – in fact the list just goes on and on and on) and Technosweat (who license music for gyms worldwide).Ìý

The band has also managed to get ‘One of my bad days’ onto a Summer 2008 compilation CD entitled Surf Rock.Ìý The compilation will feature some top up and coming talent from the USA and UK and also tracks submitted by members of Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne Band, Alice Cooper Band, WASP and more.

Style and influences?

It will come as no surprise to anyone listener who enjoys their rock as much as this band that they draw influences from such greats as Foo Fighters, Metallica, Faith No More, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Guns 'n' Roses, Aerosmith, Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Therapy?, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Weezer, Nirvana, The Smiths, Cave-In, Pantera, Dinosaur Jr, the lions, the tigers, the bears…. oh my!

Best moment so far?

Basically, January 08!Ìý None of the boys have ever had such a great start to a year as this one.Ìý The current crop of opportunities has the boys stoked as hell for the rest of the year and with hard work it can only get better.

Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?

Thankfully nothing has gone terribly wrong or embarrassed the band worth mentioning - so far *fingers crossed*

What's your favourite song? Or which song do you wish you'd written?

Roy – The Pretender, Foo Fighters
Texas Peat – Baba o’riley, The Who
Gray – White cat in a snow storm, Ipanema
Adam – Say it aint so, Weezer

Anything else we should all know about?

Yeah, please go to our Myspace page and join the mailing list so we may better keep people who dig the band updated as to our progress – just stick your email address in the Reverbnation fan collector widget midway down the right hand side of the page.Ìý Rock!
