About Raw TalentYou are in: Humber > Entertainment > Music > Raw Talent > About Raw Talent > Introducing Jesus Stole My Girlfriend Jesus Stole My Girlfriend Introducing Jesus Stole My GirlfriendBlast Reporter Martha Mangan meets Hull band JSMG Hull Indie synth band Jesus Stole My Girlfriend talk gigs, favourite bands and what it's like to have their own personal army. Here at Raw Talent we pride ourselves in introducing you to the cream of the crop of the local music scene. What better band to thrust into the spotlight then a local group, who according to their Myspace describe themselves as the 鈥渋ndie ABBA鈥. Fused together from two different bands to create what keyboard player Emma describes as "one super-group", we delve into the darkest depths of JSMG听 discovering the hazards of drinking on stage and all about Dave鈥檚 amazing triceps. When the band started writing material together Emma Houlton recalls that "after a bit of encouragement, I was convinced to put down my bass guitar and pick up a keyboard again. I invested in a tiny Micro Korg Vocoder and I haven鈥檛 put it down since." The 'super-group' are veterans on the local gig scene having played established nights The Sesh, Under The Influence and Club NME. Just in case you've missed out on hearing the band yet, Raw Talent asked Emma to describe in one sentence Jesus Stole My Girlfriend's sound. "An electronic cat-o-nine tails!" she came back with. Well, we did ask and that must make you want to hear them now! Sensible thinking, that鈥檚 very logical - any other reason? Local music venue The Lamp, Norfolk Street has played host to the band鈥檚 most memorable gig. Emma recalls " we played with our good friends The Cliques, people were singing our songs back to us and there was a stage invasion." We like to know rock stars are human too, so we asked what was the most embarrassing on stage moment for Jesus Stole My Girlfriend? Emma recalls her cringe worthy moment. Get online and check out the music on their Myspace page. 'Fight the problem' is a band favourite and Raw Talent's too. Emma explains "Well the title of the track is a little bit self explanatory really. We penned it all together, so it has a little piece of us all in it." The band it seems is foremost friends then band mates. Having been blown away with their session for us on Raw Talent we'll certainly be paying close attention to the band in the coming year. last updated: 14/07/2009 at 11:37 SEE ALSOYou are in: Humber > Entertainment > Music > Raw Talent > About Raw Talent > Introducing Jesus Stole My Girlfriend |
