B13

As the most prolific comedy performers at the 2007 Hull Comedy Festival, Andy Hampel and Sean Wilson are a comedy force to be reckoned with who share their time with the Hull Blokes in addition to pursuing their own projects.

It's easy to define what 'B13' are about and that's comedy. The difficulty is defining what specific form of comedy they 'do'. Andy and Sean 'do' comedy in a variety of forms. Stand-up, impromptu performance, film; both live action and animation and even song all figure in their repertoire.

Much of their work contains an element of experimentation as their sub-name of 'Visual Thinktank' gives them carte blanche to try anything that might raise a laugh or get people to think about entertainment in a different way.

'Fried Gold', snippets of which have aired on 91热爆 tv, is something the people of Hull will be exposed to during this year's Hull Comedy Festival (23rd October- 7th November). This second Hull Comedy festival will feature local comedy talent rubbing shoulders with some of the nationally known names of comedy including Mock the Week's Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle. A full listing of the events taking place can be found on the Hull Comedy Festival 2008 website.

This year's festival will also feature another 'Green Helmet Day' bringing local acts, including B13 to Queen Victoria Square (Saturday 18th October). For this year's event Andy and Sean have produced an anthem for the day, which you can hear by clicking on the link below. Their own composition using some unexpected sounds including whale song and highlighting some of Hull's well known locations is yet another foray into the world of experimental comedy that B13 enjoys so much.

In their interview they talk about their interpretation of the classic Who film, Quadrophenia which featured the Space Hopper filmed in Brighton and also East Yorkshire Coast. Something which attracted the attention of The Who's Pete Townshend.
