Rock beats鈥ridlington to Hull

Teenage musical talent from across the region performed live on stage at showcase music events in Bridlington and Hull.

The Soundwaves Festival at the Spa Theatre, Bridlington and Creative Voice in Hull's West Park provided the perfect setting for a live stage set experience in front of hundreds of eager music fans.

The showcase events were the opportunity for a number of young bands to bring together all the knowledge gained from attending 91热爆 Blast music workshops ran throughout the year in partnership with Creative Connexions and Music 4U.

Ruth Drake, Creative Voice organiser was first of all delighted that the weather had changed favourably for the event. 鈥淭he sun is shining and people are drawing ever nearer to the park and stage to listen. The bands on show are really giving it everything they've got.听 We do really have some awesome musical performers in the city.鈥

In between live sets, DJ Boyce warmed up the crowd with established chart hits.听 Recorded music from workshop participants to inexperienced and nervous to perform live, boomed out of the large impressive stage set speakers.

Tom Kay, a solo artist attended the Blast workshops and after his 20 minute set on stage said: 鈥淚t was great to work alongside established professional artists at the workshops. I gained lots of help on stage presence as well as tips on writing lyrics.听 These showcase opportunities are just brilliant experience and such a buzz.鈥

Other bands performing throughout the afternoon included Beneath Existence, The Train Wreck Illusion, The Ashdowns and The 303鈥檚.

At Bridlington, it was an all so different setting.听 The Spa Theatre opened its impressive 1930鈥檚 ballroom to a crescendo of noise and young rock fans on school holidays flocked from the promenade to party.听Twelve teenage bands delivered a range of musical styles, sets and influences throughout the day.

鈥淲hat a venue to host local talent. All the bands offer something different to listen to and Blast provides the opportunity to showcase to a far wider audience.鈥 said Chris Dale, music workshop facilitator who has been helping young people to register and upload content onto the Blast website.

鈥淲e seen the workshops advertised and decide to go along鈥 said 17-year old Ollie from the East Riding grunge band, Tell Me This Fat Mans Dead, which was a quote picked up from a literature lesson in school.听 鈥淭he workshop was a big help and great that we are also supported with a venue to perform live. Our style is quite different.听 We were nervous before going on stage, but the crowd seemed to like our music.鈥

As the sun disappeared into the summer evening sky, the last string, drum beat and vocal from Hull and Bridlington events did so to.听Performers and crowds drifted off with songs and tunes still swirling in their ears. Bands hoping that this was one small step to bigger and better things in the highly competitive music industry.
