How are they feeling about this years imminent return? Describing themselves as a psych-prog-party band The Last People on Earth have been a firm fixture on the Hull music scene for the past five years. Drawing comparisons to explain their sound Patrick, the bands lead vocalist and bass player, suggests you should 'think of Pink Floyd meets the Super Furry Animals and Beta Band or perhaps Jeff Buckley singing late 60's Beach Boy songs'. Naturally their music has evolved over the last five years, in their own words 'like a child but quicker' leaving them with three albums firmly in place, the latest being Electric Angel. Raw Talent takes a moment to ask them what this years Leeds/ Reading Festival means to them and finds out why shampoo is not high on their wish list.听 RT: Is it any less daunting playing Leeds this year than the first time round? TLPOE: No, its just a pleasure to know that more people will enjoy our melodic overtones. RT: How do you prepare for such a prestigious event such as this years festival? TLPOE: Just like any gig really, just make sure you're tight and love people. RT: With three albums firmly under your belts, how do you decide upon a set list? TLPOE: With the latest album we have to play it all from start to finish due to the storyline RT: Ten minutes before you're due on stage, what are you guys doing? TLPOE: Being violently sick behind the stage due to a massive bender the night before. RT: Who are you looking forward to see play at this years festivals? TLPOE: Queens of the Stoneage, Justice and Tenacious D and many, many more RT: What can we expect from The Last People on Earth at this years festival? TLPOE: Great entertainment and wind and fire yesssssssssssssssssss RT: What are you expectations for the band after this years festival? TLPOE: Europe and beyond, maybe outer space. RT: How would you sum up performing at this years festivals? TLPOE: Like eating swans for breakfast, massive and tasty. RT: Lastly, with all that hair between you, care to share any styling tips?
