Every Picture Tells a StoryYou are in: Humber > 91热爆 Radio Humberside > Steve Redgrave's Late Show > Every Picture Tells a Story > Adam Fowler Adam FowlerFrom being actively involved in the Fisherman's organisation STAND, the Hull Civic Society and the Hull and Humber Environment Forum, Adam Fowler is a keen supporter of local affairs Adam Fowler has always been more than just interested in local affairs, particularly in Hull and the East Riding. He's taken an active role in a number of organisations, some concerned with the region's heritage, some with environmental issues. After a 20 year association with the Hull Civic Society he's pursuing other interests but is still involved with the Fisherman's Organisation STAND. Currently he's the leader of CHEF (The City of Hull and Humber Environment Forum). This is a charity which specialises in public transport issues. He's a champion of bus and rail services and as he travels around East Yorkshire dealing with environmental initiatives he encourages people to use public transport whenever possible. In an effort to raise awareness of transport issues, he works closely with East Yorkshire Motor Services to highlight the area's tourist hotspots accessible by using public transport. As part of the 'Hidden Treasures' initiative across the summer, people are able to discover places of interest on their own doorstep. CHEF is part financed by the Langeled Rural Community Development Fund and the European Agriculture Guidance and Guarantee Fund of the EU through the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's LEADER+ programme. Born in Hull, from the age of nine he went to school at Drax and later gained a politics degree from Hull University. He's made his own career and treads his own path in the environment field which enables him to be independent. He says he's never sought elected office as he thinks aligning himself to a particular party would restrict his options and actions. Adam's picture is of his visit to Wembley with his children this year to see Hull City win a place in the Premier League. He says its' an achievement the people of Hull should be proud of and another jewel in Hull's crown as a vibrant active place with a lot to offer. last updated: 01/07/2008 at 11:58 You are in: Humber > 91热爆 Radio Humberside > Steve Redgrave's Late Show > Every Picture Tells a Story > Adam Fowler |
