Paul coaching youngsters Paul Kay has been involved with football from the age of seven. As a youngster he played with the Cottingham Rangers and he's pursued an interest in football ever since. After an injury when he was fifteen he had to look again at what the future might hold. Having seen his father coaching he decided to get more involved and was trained in Level 1 coaching with the FA and very soon volunteered his services helping with mini-soccer coaching. Working with a wide age range of youngsters his efforts were rewarded with a place at a National Leadership camp at Ascot attended by coaches from across the country. Paul has also taken a sports' course at Bishop Burton College and has worked with students with disabilities. From volunteer work which he is still deeply involved with he's now progressed to getting paid work. He' particularly proud of working with the Girls Centre of Excellence at Hull college. At nineteen he's pursuing his coaching interests with even more vigour and he's now doing Level 3 coaching. Paul's says his achievements are down to the help and support he's been given in volunteering locally. Anne Watkins has been a volunteer herself and is now working with 'vinspired'. It's an organisation geared to giving volunteers between the ages of 16-25 opportunities to volunteer their services in a wide range of opportunities. As part of the' vinvolved team' based in East Yorkshire allied to the CSV, Anne says Paul is a role model for other youngsters. She also says young people gain more life experience when they volunteer. They gain skills and knowledge which they can take to prospective employers to improve their chances of gaining full time work. Although unpaid, volunteers can get help with reasonable travel expenses. Listen to what Paul and Anne have to say about volunteering.
