Twenty schools from across the region took part in producing and filming local stories.

The hands on activity afternoon allowed the children to take part in short taster sessions across TV, radio and online.

91Èȱ¬ Newsround provided the previous days news scripts as the children were guided through directing, shooting, auto-cue and presenting to camera.Ìý

The topic of embarrassing parents allowed the children to record audio from each other to be played out on 91Èȱ¬ Radio Humberside later in the day.

A tour behind the scenes including operating the TV gallery and sitting on the Look North sofa in the studio proved a real hit.Ìý

Look North presenter Hannah Moffat spent an hour talking to the children and gave a real insight into the day to day life of news journalism and presenting.ÌýLots of questions were directed at Hannah from eager budding reporters.

The day ended with certificates and a 30 minute screening of all the films on the city centre's Big Screen.

"Absolutely fantastic… I definitely want to work in television" commented Aidan, 13 from St Francis School.

"The students were truly inspired by their experience. They talked all the way home about their next news report they wanted to create and how they would consider a job in the media." said Suzanne Wright, teacher at Vale of Ancholme.
