Moving on from this early beginning he went on to play in a number of ensembles of the Hull City Music Service and later with the City Youth Concert Band and The City of Hull Youth Orchestra. He was just seventeen when he was invited to join the Humberside Police Band and became a regular member of the clarinet section travelling back to Hull on a regular basis whilst studying to further his teaching career. From 1980, for a quarter of a In his professional life, he became Head of Music at Penistone Grammar school, but still travelled regularly to play with the band. In 2005, he became the Humberside band's Musical Director. Since then he's been promoting young players through the Brent feels extremely proud whenever he represents the band, whether that is marching in front of them at events such as the annual Remembrance Parade or conducting them at the many concert performances throughout the year.
