My dad's name is Hyman Reuben. Most of his life he has been known as Hymie but now that we live in Canada people just call him "Hi". His sight is failing so he has asked me to find information for him regarding his years in the service during the second world war. The one experience that he mentions more than any other during the war is the time he served on the SS Oronsay. The troopship was torpedoed and sunk on October 9th 1942. Dad, along with many others were forced to endure many days at sea on a lifeboat until they were finally rescued.
