I am 71 years old and at this late stage in my life I decided to document the naval career of my father -- Able Seaman Charles Edward Kennerley -- who was lost on the minesweeper HMS Bramble on 31st December 1942 aged 43. My eldest brother Flying Officer Charles Geoffrey Kennerley was killed on 13th January 1943 aged 21.
I was only 10 years old and at this time of family trauma I was protected from most of the detail surrounding their demise. Thus I have only sketchy memories and a few isolated facts with which to proceed. I am married with two daughters and three grandchildren, none of whom will know of the sacrifices made unless I complete this project which I should have done many years ago when details were more available.
