i joined up april 1943, first stop saighton camp chester--6 weeks training and then to RAMC boyce barracks fleet hants. 10 weeks training and off to IoWight 36 bed hos.Albany Barracks. stayed there till just before Xmas and trans to Netley hos waiting for a new post!! headed off to Boyce barracks again but this time to be an Ambulance train crew--overseas type was the title.we collected about 30 bods and headed to Inverness Scotland to pick up train,i believe it was a first ww1 leftover, at least thats what appeared to be!! lots of cleaning etc and after a few weeks we ran to tattenham corner epsom, there for more training etc--it was a good spot for counting fly bombs on the way to London!!we only had 2 pubs and "they" blew one up but it did open again at night--The "firm" took our train away from us and we had a turn in civvy billets. very nice too, mr and mrs Johnson ( Acher & Elsie) they were brilliant.
