My name's Roseanne & I'm researching my family history. I've found it fascinating. My father sadly, passed away in 2000, but left a fantastic legacy for me & others to benefit from. His was a farming background (dating back at least to the 16th century) but he became a teacher & later wrote detailed memoirs covering every aspect of his life, which I am hoping to have the opportunity to publish at some point. When World War II began, he was Chemistry Master at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School in Sutton Coldfield (nr Birmingham) For a while, it was a 'reserved occupation' but he eventually went up to Cumbria where he was supervisor in munitions factories at Drigg & Seascale. He wrote about his experiences there, both in the factory & his social life from 1941-45, and when war was finally over. I would love to hear memories from others who spent time at those factories, and who (maybe?) even knew my father?
