Although my mother and I managed to escape on one of the last boats out of Singapore my father, a Dutchman, had volunteered for the British Army. He was captured and didn't survive the Japanese POW camp.
I have just written a book about this, and our lives as refugees in Australia, until the war ended. Hopefully this book may get published soon.
