My grandfather Frederick John Dalley (Fred Dalley) was in the 12th Battalion The Devonshire Regiment (12th Devons). This formed part of the 6th Airlanding Brigade of the 6th Airborne Division. He was a PTI and played the accordian. Whilst I am unsure of his involvement in Operation Overlord - D-Day landings, he was active in Operation Varsity/ The Rhine Crossing. I have various pics of him and other troops in the Battalion around Hamminkeln and the towns onward towards Wismar.
