Hello,I'm Barbara,
I am interested in contributing stories about world war2,mainly because I was a child and lived through it,with many experiences under my belt.
My mother looked after me in my hometown of Eastbourne,East sussex.My father was in the Royal Air Force,away somewhere,but cannot remember where.
I was evacuated to Bishop Stortford to escape the bombing of the gasworks that were situated very close to my home.
I have added three stories to the website,I hope you will find them of interest.I remember these moments very clearly as I was terrified.I do have other memories but it would take an age to write them all down.
I still live in Eastbourne today and have a loving family around me,including three grandchildren that live in eastbourne,two in poole,dorset,and two great grandchildren.
I consider myself very fortunate to have survived the war,marry the most wonderful man in the world,
and bring up all these lovely children.
