My name is Denise Morris, I am married to Derek who is the eldest son of Jimmy and Nora Morris (both deceased) from Sunderland.
We have Two adult children Rebecca and Jamie.

My late father in law Jimmy was in the Royal Navy from 1939 - 1952, HMS NELSON, HMS HOWE, HMS INDEFATIGABLE, plus several shore posts, sadly he passed away on New Years Eve 2004.

It was after I had looked through some of his photos and service papers and after discussing it with Derek and his brother Keith that we decided to try and put something onto the peoples war site as a tribute to a very fine man.

There were quite a few photos and a newspaper clipping of story about an attempt to sink the HMS Nelson off the Orkneys in 1939 (submitted as "A lucky day for Nelson ... and for Jimmy Morris" ) which was when Jimmy was serving aboard as a stoker, he ended his career in 1952 as Petty Officer.

If anyone remembers serving with him I would welcome a line or two from them via this site

Denise Morris added messages to the following stories

HMS HOWE
Indefatigable
